Paphos Castle - Cyprus

The Paphos Castle was originally a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour.
The Paphos Castle was originally a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour. It was rebuilt by the Lusignans in the 13th century, dismantled by the Venetians in 1570 during the Ottoman invasion and rebuilt by the Ottomans after they captured the island in the 16th century.
During its long history the Paphos Castle was used, in addition to protection, as prison cells , or even as a storage area for salt when the island was a British colony.
The castle has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage List monument in 1980.

    Purpose of the project: the purpose of the project was to uniformly illuminate the castle with minimal environmental and architectural impact on this Unesco monument and to provide an option to include colour changes for key celebratory dates in the calendar.
